WINTER LITES INFO
INTRO
Winter Lites is a fun way to join a fun athletic pursuit while enjoying the ocean. We are looking for a few reasonably fit folk that might be interested in joining outrigger canoeing for the upcoming 2020 season (March), but just aren’t sure, or just a way to get out on the water.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Practice is coed, and lighthearted coached affair where we introduce you padding safety and technique. The whole practice lasts about 2 hours – sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less. We paddle intervals with rests in between where we discuss stroke improvement as well as ocean knowledge. One should know how to swim, or wear a lifejacket.
WHAT TO BRING
Bring water and a swim suit – we have the paddles. Rash guards are best to cut down on the chaffing that a cotton t-shirt can cause. Shoes/sandals are not needed, but some do wear booties. Sometimes the sun comes out in California, so if you’re fair skinned, you might want sun screen, shades, and a visor. Big wide brimmed floppy has are not so good.
COST
The cost is $75 for the winter. Come, try it out a couple times, and if you think it’s for you, then you can pay by check, Venmo, ( @kahakai-outrigger ) PayPal ( kahakaioutrigger@gmail.com ). If you decide to join the team, then the $75 is deducted from yearly dues – a win-win!
